ESOS compliance notification timetable

When organisations have completed their assessments, they must notify the Environment Agency. There is no administrative fee for this. Notification is via a simple, survey-based tool, which is accessible from ESOS.

Compliance timeframes

 Compliance period  Qualification date*      Compliance deadline
First period: 6 December 2011- 5 December 2015         31 December 2014     5 December 2015
Second period: 6 December 2015 - 5 December 2019 31 December 2018     5 December 2019
Subsequent periods: every following four years 31 December 2022, 2026 etc 5 December 2023, 2027 etc

*Qualification date means the date when an organisation qualifies as a ‘large undertaking’ and therefore subject to ESOS regulation.
