How to become an Energy Saving Opportunity, Lead Energy Assessor (ESOS LEA)

ESOS LEAs need to have fulfilled the requirements of an approved professional body register. View the ESOS Lead Energy Assessor Register.

To be eligible to be put on the register you will need to attend an IChemE one day course and successfully complete the assessment at the end.

The minimum criteria for admission onto the training are:

  • Chartered Membership (MIChemE) or Fellow (FIChemE) of the Institution of Chemical Engineers
  • experience in carrying out energy management and energy auditing activities (typically no less than five years)
  • good standard of English (the principal medium of instruction is English)

Please note that a post-attendance assessment must be successfully completed within seven days.

Find out more about the course and book onto the next IChemE - ESOS LEA training course.

*IChemE was appointed as an ESOS Approved Competent Authority with the right to deliver ESOS Lead Energy Assessor training in October 2014 by the Environment Agency.
