The problem that we are facing nowadays here in Malaysia and the rest of the developing world is that growth and development is so fast and furious that sometimes the issue of sustainable development and environment is not given top priority and this leads to the degradation of natural resources and environment. Take this analogy, it is so easy to chop off a tree that takes 10 – 20 years to grow, in seconds, but how many people replant the tree upon completion of the development project? Therefore, the challenge for sustainable development is to be balanced in term of securing positive growth while protecting the social, sustainable development and environmental well-being.
