US Environmental Protection Agency Glossary
This glossary contains definitions of terms used in the Risk Assessment Portal. These definitions are not all-encompassing, but are useful "working definitions" for the concepts outlined herein.

Periodicals (Contents/Abstracts only)

Process Safety and Environmental Protection
Publication of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. PSEP aims to be the principal international journal for publication of high quality, original papers in the branches of engineering concerned with the safety of industrial processes and the protection of the environment.

Combustion and Flame
The mission of the journal is to publish high quality work from experimental, theoretical, and computational investigations on the fundamentals of combustion phenomena and closely allied matters.

Journal of Chemical Health and Safety
The Journal of Chemical Health and Safety focuses on news, information, and ideas relating to issues and advances in chemical health and safety. The Journal of Chemical Health and Safety covers up-to-the minute, in-depth views of safety issues ranging from OSHA and EPA regulations to the safe handling of hazardous waste, from the latest innovations in effective chemical hygiene practices to the courts' most recent rulings on safety-related lawsuits.

Journal of Hazardous Materials
The Journal of Hazardous Materials publishes full length research papers, reviews, case studies and short communications which improve our understanding of the hazards and risks certain materials pose to people and the environment or deal with ways of controlling these hazards and associated risks.

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries
Loss Prevention is concerned with process and plant design; plant layout; hazard analysis, accident and loss; plant commissioning and inspection; plant operation; maintenance and modification; process control and monitoring; design of protective systems; equipment design and reliability; use of computer systems in loss prevention; operational management and training aspects; accident analysis; emergency planning; transport and offshore; hazards assessment.

Gas Explosion Handbook - Christian Michelsen Research/GexCon AS

This handbook has been written as a part of Christian Michelsen Research's (CMR) research programme "Gas Safety Programme 1990-1992" (GSP90-92). The participants of the programme are: BP Norway Limited U.A., Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie, Conoco Norway Inc., Elf Petroleum Norge A/S, Esso Norge A/S, Gaz de France, Health and Safety Executive, Mobil Exploration Norway Inc., Norsk Hydro, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, Phillips Petroleum Company Norway and Statoil.

The purpose of this handbook is to give a brief introduction to gas explosion safety, based on our current knowledge of the subject and on our experience in applying this knowledge to practical problems in the industry. Because of the intended brevity and simplicity of the handbook the information provided may in some cases be strongly simplified and/or incomplete. For in-depth information on the various subjects the reader is referred to the literature described in the References.

NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards
The NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards (NPG) is intended as a source of general industrial hygiene information on several hundred chemicals/classes for workers, employers, and occupational health professionals. The NPG does not contain an analysis of all pertinent data, rather it presents key information and data in abbreviated or tabular form for chemicals or substance groupings (e.g. cyanides, fluorides, manganese compounds) that are found in the work environment. The information found in the NPG should help users recognize and control occupational chemical hazards.
