Date To: 27 March 2012
Location: UK
Description: One day workshop organised by IChemE’s Fluid Separations Special Interest Group.
Event Type: Special Interest Groups
Venue: University College London, Malet Place, London, WC1E 7JE
Organiser: Fluid Separations Special Interest Group

An updated programme and registration form are available here >>>

This workshop will bring together expert practitioners, in process simulation from operating companies, engineering procurement and contracting, and software houses, to share best practice in simulation of distillation processes with the audience. The presenters will focus on principles and practice for applying simulation software to particular aspects of distillation processes. While presenters will refer to one or more particular software packages, their focus will be on skills and application, rather than on the merits of the software.

The programme for the workshop will include the following topics of interest:

  • Vapour-liquid equilibrium and physical properties modeling
  • Simulation of distillation columns
  • Sizing distillation column and internals design
  • Rate-based modeling of gas/liquid contactors
  • Simulation of complex distillation configurations (e.g. dividing wall columns)
  • Simulation for distillation of azeotropic and heterogeneous mixtures
  • Simulation of CO2 absorption and stripping columns
