McNab-Lacey Design Prize
‘Sustainability and Sustainable Chemical Technology’ are a key theme of IChemE’s Technical Strategy Roadmap, extending the commitment already demonstrated through signature of the Melbourne Communiqué in 2001, and publication of the Sustainability Metrics in 2002. Therefore, the prize will be awarded to the project that best shows how chemical engineering practice can contribute to a more sustainable world. The winning entry need not necessarily be a conventional “chemical process” scheme, but chemical engineering principles should be a key element of the overall design
In academic year 2010-11 IChemE launched its modified student design project competition, now named the McNab-Lacey Award. This attracted entries from universities based in Australia, Far East, Ireland and the UK. For academic year 2011-12 the competition will be run again, with slight changes to the rules based on the lessons learned last year. The competition will again focus on sustainability issues as key requirements for entries for this year.
