Hazards Asia Pacific Symposium

IChemE and the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia are pleased to announce the first Hazards Asia Pacific Symposium. IChemE’s Hazards Symposium is now firmly established as one of Europe’s premier process safety conferences and the meeting is now being staged in Malaysia for the first time. Hazards AP will be co-chaired by PETRONAS Vice President, Downstream Operations, Mr Kamarudin Zakaria and Dr A Hapiz Abdullah, CEO, PETRONAS Chemicals Group.

The conference takes place in Malaysia on 27-29 September 2011 at the InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The technical programme team will be led by Dr. Christina Phang, Managing Partner at leading global consultancy, Environmental Resources Management (ERM). Hazards AP will provide an essential forum for international experts and safety professionals to discuss the latest developments and share examples of best practice with a special emphasis on the challenges facing chemical and process operations in the Asia Pacific region. Hazards AP is the ideal conference for both experienced process safety practitioners and newcomers alike.

In addition to a thought-provoking line-up of invited keynote speakers, Hazards AP will feature over 30 peer reviewed technical papers submitted by organisations from across the Asia Pacific region and further afield.

Contributions were invited under the following broad headings: 

  • Safety education and training to build knowledge and competence
  • Inherently safer process design
  • Process safety management and audit
  • Cultural issues and human factors in process safety
  • Case studies and lessons learned from process safety incidents

 

Presentations will be made from many leading companies including: ABB, AON Risk, BASF, Conoco Phillips, ERM, Linde, PETRONAS, Reliance Industries, Shell, and Titan Petrochemicals.
