Process Safety, building resilience

Process Safety is at the heart of what we do and IChemE is pleased to announce that in June 2018, the globally recognised process safety conference, Hazards Australasia will return to Perth and be held for the fourth time.

Since the inaugural Hazards Australasia in 2013, commodity pricing is still under great pressure in the global markets, and this means businesses continue to face pressure when maintaining operations. We are still seeing companies reduce employee numbers and strive to increase production at the same time. This has resulted in a need for those remaining and the businesses to be more resilient. We need to think about how we will not just maintain the status quo, but build resilience in our operations, including reviewing capabilities and responsibilities to ensure we can adequately respond to changing demands. These demands come from market pressures as well as ageing infrastructure and a changing climate, bringing more extreme weather events. How we respond to these challenges and maintain safe production show the level of resilience we have achieved.

IChemE recognises that leadership across knowledge and competence, engineering and design, systems and procedures, assurance, human factors and culture are fundamental to managing process safety. You will see these topics reflected across all themes of the conference.

Join us for a world class process safety event, to understand how you can build resilience into your business.
