IChemE awards deadline extended
The 2011 IChemE awards entry deadline has been extended until Friday 15 July. The awards are open to all, free to enter and cover all aspects of chemical and process engineering.
The awards will be presented on 3 November at the IChemE 2011 awards dinner in Birmingham, UK.
IChemE ceo David Brown says: “The IChemE awards bring together the very best in chemical engineering innovation and excellence. It’s an opportunity to recognise and reward the vast and varied work that’s going on in our community.”
The event will be hosted by television personality Hugh Dennis, best known for his starring roles in BBC television shows Outnumbered and Fast and Loose. Dennis is a former Unilever brand manager and made his name as one half of Punt & Dennis. He and Steve Punt still appear together on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, whilst Dennis also captains his team on Mock the Week.
Now in their 18th year, the awards are highly regarded throughout the process industries for recognising and rewarding chemical engineering excellence and innovation. The best overall award entry will be presented with the Outstanding achievement in chemical and process engineering prize (sponsored by BP).

About chemical engineers
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, maths and economics to the process of turning raw materials into everyday products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
