New Zealand chemical engineers set for biggest event of the year
Registrations are still being accepted for IChemE's biggest member event of the year in New Zealand, the SCENZ-IChemE annual conference on 1-2 December.
The event will take place at the Waikato University engineering school and will bring together speakers from industry and academia. Presentation topics include chemical engineering in the dairy industry, hazardous area classifications, wastewater treatment of algal biofuel pond systems, innovation in food, water management, and the implementation of safety design codes.
The conference will host the annual Kennedy-Wunsch lecture which will be given by Kevin Marshall. Marshall will provide insights from almost half a century of working in industry.
Max Kennedy, national manager of biological industries for the Ministry of Science and Innovation will also be presenting. Kennedy will discuss New Zealand's biological economy and its challenges for chemical engineers.
SCENZ-IChemE chair David Platts says: "The event is an opportunity not to be missed and an excellent chance to learn what's new in the chemical and process industries."
For more information about the conference, download the event flyer or email nzmembers@icheme.org to register.

About chemical engineers
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, maths and economics to the process of turning raw materials into everyday products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
About IChemE
IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers) is the hub for chemical, biochemical and process engineering professionals worldwide. With a growing global membership of over 33,000, the Institution is at the heart of the process community, promoting competence and a commitment to best practice, advancing the discipline for the benefit of society, encouraging young people in science and engineering and supporting the professional development of its members.
