tce news coverage wins international prize
IChemE’s monthly member magazine, The Chemical Engineer (tce), has received a Bronze Tabbie Award for its reports on Deepwater Horizon, by the Trade Association for Business Publications International (TABPI).
The magazine won the award in the single news story category for its coverage of BP’s Deepwater Horizon accident in 2010. The article, which charted the details of the accident and the frantic efforts to seal the leak, appeared in the July/August issue last year titled “Anatomy of a Disaster”. It was jointly authored by Adam Duckett, Helen Tunnicliffe and Claudia Flavell-While.
The TABPI judging panel’s comments were: "Well-rounded, interesting read, nice layout".
“I’m thrilled that we received this award, it means a lot to all of us to get this kind of international recognition,” said tce’s editor, Claudia Flavell-While. “There were over 400 entries from around the world for this year’s Tabbies, and the competition was fierce.”
IChemE members receive tce free each month. The magazine and its sister website contains latest industry news, developments and in-depth features and is widely regarded as the leading source of chemical and process engineering job vacancies.

About chemical engineers
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, maths and economics to the process of turning raw materials into everyday products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
