Process intensification experts set for Manchester

EPIC

Some of Europe’s leading process intensification experts will be speaking in Manchester, UK later this month at the 3rd European Process Intensification Conference organised by IChemE.

The four-day event takes place on 20-23 June and looks set to attract around 130 delegates with hybrid technologies, batch to continuous processing, active enhancement and structured technologies just some of the themes being covered.

Process intensification technology (PI) is applicable in many areas of chemical and process engineering, including upstream oil and gas, petrochemicals, fine chemicals, the nuclear industry, bioprocess and food and drink.

PI can also offer impressive improvements in one or more process characteristics, such as unit operation size, output quality, energy usage and plant safety.

Keynote speakers are Roger Benson (former ICI chief engineer of engineering technology); Malcolm Mackley (professor of process innovation at Cambridge University, UK); Andrzej Stankiewicz (professor of process intensification at Delft University, the Netherlands); and Albert Renken (former professor of chemical reaction engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology).

IChemE director of policy Andrew Furlong says: “Process Intensification technology is emerging as the discipline’s latest hot topic.  Engineers looking for improved process efficiency, flexibility and profitability are increasingly turning to PI.”
