Process safety conference call for papers extended

Hazards AP

The deadline for submitting an abstract for the second Hazards Asia Pacific Symposium (Hazards AP2013) has been extended to Monday 3 September 2012.

PETRONAS has been confirmed as the lead industry partner for the conference and Tsinghua University, China will feature as the event’s lead academic partner. Keynote speakers include chair of the Great Britain Health and Safety Executive and deputy IChemE president, Judith Hackitt and BASF global head of safety Hans Schwarz.

The conference will feature a mix of invited international keynotes and a full programme of peer reviewed technical presentations covering every aspect of chemical process safety from an Asia Pacific perspective.

IChemE ceo David Brown says: “Our first Hazards process safety conference in Malaysia last year was a big success and we will build upon that event for 2013. Every chemical and process engineer should have a good understanding of process safety regardless of job role and sector and we’re looking forward to working with the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia on the event.”

Submissions are welcomed under the following themes:

  • Asset integrity
  • Operational safety
  • Process safety management
  • The challenge of regulatory compliance
  • Learning from major hazard incidents
  • Process safety design and analysis
  • Management of abnormal operations

400 delegates are expected at the enlarged conference with an expanded exhibition of safety products and services for the oil, gas and chemical process industries.  The conference will also be relevant to regulators and insurers, alongside anyone working in a process safety role.
