IChemE launches North America Awards programme
Chemical engineers in North America have welcomed the launch of a new IChemE North America Awards programme. The awards will be presented in Vancouver, Canada at the 62nd Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference on 15 October.
Three awards will be presented at the event – the Chemical engineering project of the year, the Young chemical engineer of the year, and the Safety award (sponsored by Chevron). Organisations and individuals based in North America are eligible for the event. The deadline for entries is Friday 6 July.
Desmond King, president of Chevron Technology Ventures and past president of IChemE says: “As chemical engineers, we tend to be humble about our achievements, but often we are the unsung heroes of advances that range from workplace safety improvement to changing the way people live. The IChemE North America Awards will help us recognise our outstanding colleagues across Canada, the US and Mexico.”
IChemE’s international awards programme was established in 1994 and is respected and recognised throughout the chemical and process engineering community. As well as the North America Awards, IChemE will also be staging a Singapore Awards event this year, alongside its international Awards event in Manchester, UK.

About chemical engineers
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, maths and economics to the process of turning raw materials into everyday products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
About IChemE
