International speakers headline Hazards Asia Pacific

Hazards Asia Pacific 2013

Safety experts from Europe, the US and Asia Pacific have been confirmed as plenary and keynote speakers for IChemE's Hazards Asia Pacific 2013 conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Around 400 delegates are expected at the event taking place on 16-18 April.

Conference speakers include IChemE deputy president and chair of the Great Britain Health and Safety Executive, Judith Hackitt CBE; BASF vice president Hans Volkmar Schwarz; PETRONAS chief operating officer and executive vice president for downstream operations, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee bin Wan Ariffin; and China's director general of hazardous chemicals and work safety supervision, Wang Haoshui.

They'll be joined by South Korea's SK Innovation Senior Vice President, Yang Soo Lee; former chair of the US Chemical Safety Board John Bresland; ERM's human factors team leader Ian Hamilton; and DuPont Sustainable Solutions' worldwide managing director of sustainable operations, Juan Gabriel Aguiriano.

"This is a must attend event for everyone with an interest in process safety in the Asia Pacific region," says IChemE director of policy and communication Andrew Furlong.

"The programme content is relevant to operators in the oil, gas, chemical and power generation sectors, as well as regulators, insurers and anyone with an involved interest in securing excellent process safety standard in the Asia Pacific region," says Furlong.

The event will also feature more than 40 peer reviewed papers with special emphasis being placed on challenges facing operators in the region. An exhibition of safety products and services will run alongside the conference.
