Sustainability training courses open for registrations

carbon footprinting course 2013

Two IChemE training courses helping organisations to better understand and manage their carbon footprint are now open for registration.

Better by Design – Sustainable Business and Chemical Engineering takes place on 30 April in London, UK and again on 26 November in Redcar, UK. The facilitated workshop is designed to help delegates incorporate sustainable thinking and practices into new or existing processes. It also introduces participants to the award-winning CCaLC tool, a free Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) package designed to help calculate and reduce the carbon footprint of different industrial sectors along complete supply chains.

IChemE also offers a two-day course, Carbon Footprinting, which uses the CCaLC tool in more depth.  The course has been designed to provide delegates with hands-on experience on estimating the carbon footprint of their products and technologies.  Delegates will also learn how to better identify and reduce carbon ‘hot spots’ along supply chains, and the requirements of the LCA and carbon footprinting standards ISO 14044 and PAs2050. Carbon Footprinting takes place on 26-27 June in Manchester, UK.

IChemE ceo David Brown says: “It makes environmental and commercial sense that companies think very carefully about the sustainability of their processes, whether that’s new build or established plant and processes.

“These courses are designed to help them do just that and really get to grips with understanding and extending life-cycles,” adds Brown.

Both courses are also available as in-company training options. Contact IChemE’s training department for more details.
