Just three weeks remain to register for IChemE’s Hazards Asia Pacific 2013 process safety conference taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 16-18 April.

Safety experts from Europe, the US and Asia Pacific have been confirmed as plenary and keynote speakers for the event including PETRONAS chief operating officer and executive vice president for downstream operations Datuk Wan Zulkiflee, IChemE deputy president and chair of the Great Britain Health and Safety Executive Judith Hackitt, and former US Chemical Safety Board member John Bresland.

With oral and poster presentations, the main conference themes are:

• asset integrity
• operational safety
• process safety management
• challenges of regulatory compliance
• learning from major hazard incidents
• process safety design and analysis
• management of abnormal operations

The event will feature more than 40 peer-reviewed papers with special emphasis being placed on challenges facing operators in the Asia Pacific region. An exhibition of safety products and services will run alongside the conference.

IChemE chief executive officer David Brown says: “Hazards Asia Pacific 2013 will provide an essential forum for international experts and process safety professionals to discuss operational excellence in a competitive environment.

“The first Hazards Asia Pacific conference brought together more than 200 process safety practitioners and industry experts. We’re expecting around double that figure this time for what will be IChemE’s biggest event in Malaysia yet, and one of the region’s largest process safety meetings of the year,” adds Brown.

For more information, download the Hazards Asia Pacific 2013 technical programme or visit the Hazards Asia Pacific 2013 website to register. Register before 5 April to avoid the late booking fee.
