The fire triangle - issue 226
Although fire is no more than an exothermic chemical reaction, it can cause untold damage. The fire triangle is a simple training aid that aims to show how fire can be prevented if any one of the three elements needed for a fire to happen – i.e. energy, fuel and oxygen, can be eliminated. The paper looks at ways of fire prevention by controlling each of these three elements, backed up by case histories, and discusses possible control strategies.
