Amec Foster Wheeler strikes gold with IChemE partnership

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has presented multinational consultancy, engineering and project management company, Amec Foster Wheeler with Gold Corporate Partner status.
The company demonstrated competency in all four of IChemE’s ‘commitment areas’, which encourage corporate organisations to champion professional registrations, support for young engineers and the sharing of knowledge and skills.
Amec Foster Wheeler is the third largest employer of IChemE members in the UK after Shell and BP. The company works closely with schools and universities, and runs its own mentoring and development schemes to encourage students to follow careers in engineering.
Over 150 engineers from the firm volunteer for IChemE, and are actively encouraged to get involved with the Institution’s activities. Amec Foster Wheeler runs a successful IChemE Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS). Upon completion, engineers are provided with the support to pursue Chartered Engineer status.
The upgrade to Gold Partnership will see Amec Foster Wheeler join a select number of companies in the top category of IChemE Corporate partnership, including Ingen Ideas, one of the organisations subsidiaries.
The award presentation, which took place today in Reading, UK, was attended by Amec Foster Wheeler’s CEO Jon Lewis and members of the company’s executive team, IChemE’s President Jonathan Seville, IChemE's Immediate Past President Andrew Jamieson, Director of Qualifications and International Development, Neil Atkinson, and IChemE’s newly appointed Chief Executive, Jon Prichard.
