Australian IChemE 2012 board announcements

21st February 2012

IChemE’s Australian board convened recently for its first meeting of the year with  Moses O. Tadé taking over as Chair for the next two years.

Tadé is the dean of engineering and a John Curtin distinguished professor at Curtin University WA and is one of Australia’s leading researchers in process systems engineering.  He brings with him extensive experience in both academia and industry and was recognised in the 2008 list of TOP 100 Australia’s Most Influential Engineers by Engineers Australia for his contribution to the engineering profession.

Tadé said that he looks forward to working successfully with the board to continue to uphold the IChemE charter.

“My outreach activities will be to encourage more females to pursue chemical engineering and indeed engineering careers as one of my foci.”

Other board changes include Noel Williams taking on the role of immediate past chair whilst newcomer Allyson Black becomes Chair of the Queensland Member Group.

Allyson is the process engineering superintendent for Caltex Refineries (QLD) Lytton and has been a very active member of the QLD IChemE State group and the QLD Joint Chemical Engineering Committee for several years.
