Finalists announced for IChemE's Singapore Awards 2017

6th September 2017

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has officially announced the finalists for the IChemE Singapore Awards 2017. Twenty-seven entries have made it to the final stages of the Awards, and an overall winner from each category will be revealed on 19 October 2017.

The IChemE Singapore Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement in the chemical, process and biochemical industries. The National University of Singapore (NUS) scooped three awards at the 2016 ceremony for the Energy Award, research Project of the Year Award and an NUS student was named best Young Chemical Engineer in Research.

Finalists of this year’s Awards include Singapore Polytechnic, Shells Chemicals Seraya Pte Ltd, Singapore Polytechnic, Ministry of Manpower, Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences and Singapore Refining Company Private Limited (SRC).

Two individual awards will also be presented – Young Industrialist Award and Young Researcher Award. Finalists include researchers from the National University of Singapore, and one from the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). The industrialist finalists are from Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd, and from Abbott Manufacturing Singapore, and from Lloyd’s Register Global Technology Centre (Singapore).

The IChemE Singapore Awards take place on 19 October 2017 at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, Singapore where the winners will be announced. The ceremony in Singapore is just one of three international events organised by IChemE to celebrate chemical engineering achievements. Other events include the IChemE Malaysia Awards (16 October 2017) and the IChemE Global Awards (2 November 2017).

Winners of the IChemE Singapore Awards will be automatically shortlisted for the IChemE Global Awards, held in Birmingham, UK, including the overall Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering, which will be selected from all entries received worldwide.

Joe Eades, Chair of IChemE Singapore Board, said:

“I’d like to thank all the individuals and organisations that have submitted their projects to the Singapore Awards 2017. The entries have once again been exceptional.

“Year on year IChemE is proud to recognise the tremendous achievements in chemical, biomolecular and process engineering - and this year will be no different. Congratulations to all the finalists and thank you for your on-going dedication to advancing our profession. Have a fantastic time at the Awards ceremony in October.”
