X Factor star to headline IChemE awards

23rd September 2010

Latina singing sensation and former X Factor finalist Ruth Lorenzo will headline the 2010 IChemE awards dinner in November.

Lorenzo starred in the 2008 UK series of the X Factor before topping the charts with a UK number 1 charity single Hero. The Spanish songstress releases her debut album later this year.

The 2010 IChemE awards will be presented at the Palace Hotel in Manchester, UK and will be hosted by television and radio personality John Inverdale. The international awards are now in their 17th year and recognise chemical engineering excellence and innovation in 14 categories.

Award shortlists will be published later this week and include contenders for two new awards, the engineering project of the year (sponsored by EEMUA) and the innovative product of the year (sponsored by Stopford Projects). All of the 2010 award winners will also be considered for the top prize of the evening, the outstanding achievement in chemical and process engineering award (sponsored by Rowan House).

IChemE communications manager, Matt Stalker said: “As always we’ve had entries from all over the world and we’re looking forward to a special evening. Many of the key chemical and process engineering companies will be represented and it promises to be a great opportunity to network, be entertained and recognise the best in chemical engineering.”
