Guidance document

IChemE Accreditation of chemical engineering programmesThese guidelines describe what IChemE requires of a programme to be accredited. A framework is given that sets threshold standards and yet provides the flexibility to accommodate many different types of programme.

The process of accreditation is explained, and guidance is given on the documentation that the University must provide.

These guidelines have evolved from IChemE's long experience in accrediting degree or diploma courses across the world.

IChemE accredited degrees and diplomas are recognised through Mutual Recognition Agreements worldwide and by Engineering Council UK (consistent with the UK-SPEC regulation, issued January 2014).

IChemE would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the many people from industry and academia who have assisted in its accreditation programme, and who have helped in drafting this latest revision of the guidelines.
