32nd Symposium of Malaysian Chemical Engineers
15–16 July 2021, Virtual conference
Swinburne University of Technology and IChemE Malaysia are organising the 32nd Symposium of Malaysian Chemical Engineers (SOMChE) which will be held virtually on 15–16 July 2021. This year's theme is Navigating the Frontier of Sustainability.
One of the most important roles for present and future chemical engineers lies in the design and development of sustainable processes that can provide human needs without compromising the ability of future generations to do so. Current chemical processes rely heavily on fossil-based resources, which are non-sustainable in the long term. In response to the necessary transition to a sustainable society, modern chemical processes need to enable more efficient use of raw materials and energy preferably from renewable resources, as well as safer, and environmentally benign through minimising emissions and pollutants at the source rather than end-of-pipe treatment.
SOMChE aims to discuss and feature the multidisciplinary research and development advances and efforts from chemical engineers, related professionals and associated industries in Malaysia and surrounding regions within this context. It will provide research students, lecturers and key academics from universities the opportunity for interaction and collaboration in research.
SOMChE2021 will include keynote addresses by eminent researchers as well as regular and poster sessions.
