Understand the phenomenon and consequences of explosions.

Are you responsible for industrial premises that fall under the DSEAR or ATEX regulations? Do you design new process plants or maintain existing ones? Do you work in hazardous areas?

Our Comprehensive Explosion Science course will give you a detailed understanding of the phenomenon of explosions including their consequences, the prevention techniques available, and the regulatory requirements for a safe and compliant working environment.

Topics covered include gas and dust explosion theory, DSEAR and ATEX regulations, ignition theory, hazardous area classification, risk assessment and protection concepts.

Dave Price

Dave started his career as an apprentice electronics and instrumentation engineer in the field of emergency shut down and fire and gas system control engineering. In 1993, Dave decided to join Kidde Graviner as an industrial explosion protection systems commissioning engineer and progressed through Kidde to become an internationally recognised industrial explosion specialist.

Dave is author and co-author of many papers in relation to dust explosions and explosion modelling/mitigation, he is also author of the Chapter ‘Fire and Explosion Hazards’ within the ICE Handbook to Construction Safety.

In 2008, Dave joined GexCon and created the first subsidiary office of GexCon in the UK, today he leads a team of CFD modelling engineers and process safety consultants.

Dave is extensively consulted by power companies and engineering contractors in relation to biomass conversion projects and the bulk handling and storage of wood pellets for fire and explosion safety advice.
