Consequence Modelling Techniques

Topic Safety

CPD Hours 18

Online | Face-to-face | In-company

Overview

This course is designed for those working in the areas of process safety, design, operations and management of hazardous installations who want to better understand the models used in consequence modelling. It will help you build your understanding of how consequence models are developed and applied, as well as how to interpret their results.

This course does not include detailed solving of mathematical models or training on particular modelling software.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will understand:

  • what consequence modelling is and how to approach defining the model requirements
  • the accident pathway
  • harm criteria and how to choose appropriate levels to model
  • how source terms are generated
  • the modelling concepts for vapour cloud explosions, flammable and toxic dispersion and fire modelling
  • how to use the results to support decision making.

Who will benefit

Delegates will typically work in the areas of process safety, design, operations and management of hazardous installations.
