Hisham Saadawi will present at the upcoming IChemE-SPE event on occupational safety.

Occupational safety primarily covers management of personnel safety and incidents affecting individual workers such as slips and falls. Process safety addresses major hazards that are more likely to result in major accidents; for example gas explosion or fire. This presentation outlines some case histories of major accidents in the oil industry. The similarities and differences between occupational safety and process safety are discussed. The successful management of one does not necessarily assure the effective management of the other.

Hisham Saadawi CEng FIChemE has over 30 years experience in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of oil and gas processing facilities. He is also an experienced HAZOP leader, TUV-certified Functional safety engineer as well as a distinguished lecturer and course instructor for SPE.
