The topic

The presentation will focus on the significance of North Sea oil to the forthcoming referendum and how the referendum could affect the oil & gas industry in Scotland.

The topics that will be discussed include:

• how much oil might an independent Scotland inherit: remaining reserves, maritime boundaries
• how much it is worth: how to extract value and what to do with it (e.g. an oil fund)
• what the future might hold: e.g. currency, EU, decommissioning

The Presenter

Sanjoy Sen CEng FIChemE

Sanjoy works in development engineering and also recently completed an LLM in Oil & Gas Law at the University of Aberdeen where his research focused on the future of the UK North Sea. Sanjoy has written several published articles on this subject which are accessible at www.northseaoilandgas.org.
