Topic

Recent research from the Center for Operator Performance highlights various methods to enhance operator performance. The research addresses new techniques for early detection of process upsets, creation of effective overview displays, training for improved decision-making, and modularisation of procedures for easier use and update.

Operator performance

By attending this webinar, operations and process control personnel will find ways to minimise the occurrence of abnormal situations and better manage those that do occur. Operations management will learn of tools available to reduce operator errors, while process control will learn of ways to enhance operator usage of their systems. 

Presenter

David StrobharDavid Strobhar has been conducting human factors analyses in refineries and chemical plants for over 30 years. He has led projects at most major oil companies, including ExxonMobil, BP, Shell and Chevron.

David has conducted over 130 alarm rationalisations in addition to the workload evaluation of over 1000 operating positions across North America. He is co-editor of the rationalisation clause of ISA18.2 and author of Human Factors In Process Plant Operation (Momentum Press).

 

Format

A one-hour online session: 40 minutes' presentation + 20 minutes' Q&A.
Duration (for CPD recording purposes): up to one hour.
