Rod Dean will take us through his career from the Chrysler Car Assembly Plant to the pantheon in St James as the BCECA Director.

Rod will describe how he joined CJB (Constructors John Brown) in 1973 in London as a Management Accountant and decided on the first day that this was the industry for him. He moved into Corporate & Manpower Forecasting and then onto Construction, and by 1984, was appointed the London Based Project Manager for the AGIP Bouri and then the Mossel Bay Offshore Gas Development projects – thus escaping the recession of the mid 80’s by being totally reimbursable from 1984 through to 1987. He joined Sales & Marketing in 1988 and also worked directly for Ian Robinson the MD of John Brown, Eastbourne Terrace.

Rod’s big break came in 1991 when he was involved in the Davy takeover and moved to a senior marketing and strategic role at the heart of the company – for 4 years he co-ordinated a lot of the S&M efforts on a global basis and across the 4 main divisions of the company.

After one year as a Director of THCD he moved to the ‘greatest of all E&C Companies’ the mighty M.W.Kellogg Company – 15 rewarding years in JV with JGC and being part of  the Mega Project era, when the size, scope and cost of plants expanded to hitherto unimaginable  scale in some of the most remote parts of the planet.

Rod Dean is not an engineer and hails from the very centre of England in the heart of the Motor Industry.  A Coventry City fanatic since 1955 he attended Leamington College and the Lanchester College of Advanced Technology as a sponsored student apprentice.
