Designing for Arctic Conditions

Date From: 13 November 2012
Location: England
Description: The severe environmental and climatic conditions in Arctic areas, as characterised by low temperature combined with high relative humidity, high wind velocity and wave high, will result in potential for ice and snow accumulation and poor outdoor working conditions topside. These conditions in combination with ice formation at sea level affecting hull / structural design will result in new challenges requiring other solutions for design of a typical offshore Oil & Gas installation for Arctic operations. In response to these challenges, Aker Solutions is developing a design process emphasising on maintaining production regularity and protecting the asset, people and environment. The presentation will be in two parts with– Hull Solutions, by. Erik Sjolie and Topside Design, by Finn Wichstrom
