Passive Fire Protection (PFP) plays a crucial role in the safe design of modern oil, gas and petrochemical installations. However, to be effective, it is necessary to understand where it fits into a broader risk based hazards management programme, to clearly understand the nature of these hazards and to ensure that proposed PFP systems are suitably designed and tested to provide the level of protection expected.

The presentation will examine these issues, and provide designers and operators with guidance on what protection measure are effective, and how to correctly specify the requirements for PFP.

Richard Holliday is a recognised industry subject matter expert in the field of Passive Fire Protection (PFP), thermal insulation, heat shielding and protective coatings. He authored the section on Passive Fire Protection in the Fire and Blast Information Group‘s (FABIG) Technical Note 11 on Fire Loading and Structural Response published in June 2009, sits on the Energy Institute's PFP Working Group and is currently authoring their Guidance on Passive Fire Protection for Process and Storage Plant and Equipment, and has chaired and presented papers at many conferences on PFP around the world.

Richard has been involved in the design, development, manufacture, testing, application, inspection and verification of a wide range of PFP systems including: epoxy intumescent, light weight cementitious, fibre insulation systems, cellular glass, phenolic resins, PFP jackets, composite enclosures, half-shells/riser systems, penetration sealing, panels/firewalls, ultra-low K value insulation systems.

The event will take place at the University of Nottingham Teaching Centre, Level 2, Chulan Tower, No 3 Jalan Conlay, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Map and directions >>
