Topic

The deposition of wax from crude oils and condensates can cause significant production problems for oil and gas field developments. An understanding of the wax deposition potential of wellstream fluids throughout the production system is essential in delivering a facilities design that is reliable and safe in operation. This presentation is aimed to provide a basic understanding of the nature of the wax as well as identifying typical strategies for managing wax during the facilities design and operations.

Speaker

Jose Daniel Alana is currently the Flow Assurance Team Lead for Genesis in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With a MS in Petroleum Engineering (University of Tulsa 2003) and a BS in Mechanical Engineering (Universidad Simon Bolivar 2000), Jose Daniel was involved with research work in flow assurance-related topics such as multiphase flow, wax deposition and hydrate formation resulting in two publications. Jose Daniel has been working multiple flow assurance projects, leading Flow Assurance teams with experience in the entire design cycle of oil and gas systems.
