TopicDifficult fluids

Having invested in the detailed PVT analysis of our reservoir fluid samples we obtain an accurate characterisation enabling us to describe the complex phase equilibria of the fluids. As our fluids are produced they move from the reservoir, up the tubing, through our subsea system and ultimately arrive at the topsides processing facilities.

The path taken by the fluid can result in extreme variations in the physical nature of the fluids. The changes that the fluid experiences can often result in production loss or in the more serious cases present a risk to the entire economics of the development. Understanding the nature of complex phase equilibria is a key to understanding how to reduce the risks to a project.
