Offshore Fracking - a Case Study Perspectives on Onshore Fracking

Description: Kenneth McIntosh, Frac Team Leader EON E&P, will present a case study of EON's Babbage Field Frac campaign, explaining the fracking process and some of the main similarities and differences between onshore and offshore fracking techniques. He will also discuss some of the main concerns around onshore fracking and its potential development in the UK.

Hydraulic fracturing is now well established in the UK's public perception, generally based on US experience. However, offshore fracking has been regular practice in tight gas fields in the Southern North Sea for many years. Geological and logistical differences between onshore US and offshore UK make the practice different in many ways.

Presenter: Kenneth McIntosh, Frac Team Leader EON E&P

Kenneth will present a case study of EON's Babbage Field Frac campaign, explaining the fracking process and some of the main similarities and differences between onshore and offshore fracking techniques. He will also discuss some of the main concerns around onshore fracking and its potential development in the UK.

Kenneth has over 17 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in numerous areas including production, well intervention, well design, well integrity and field development. He has worked for a number of major operators including Shell, Statoil and Marathon.
