The recovery of NGL products from natural and associated gas processing facilities has become an established procedure for the production of ethane, propane, butane and gasoline products. Recent developments in processing shale gas, with relatively high ethane content in the USA has resulted in recovery of ethane now being considered for export.

This presentation provides an overview of the processing requirements for the efficient recovery of ethane LPG and gasoline from various gas sources and includes a description of the major equipment required to achieve specification products. In particular, improvements in fractionation techniques will be discussed.

The talk includes the impact of feed gas composition on feed gas processing and the distribution of contaminants on product purification. Some hints and tips will be provided and the use of process and equipment design margins will be discussed.
