Topic

Engineering consultants from advanced process solutions specialist company, East 101, will present an overview of the implementation of dynamic simulation technology for addressing pressure protection and management issues commonly encountered in the Oil and Gas industry. This talk will address the following three analyses:

  1. Heat Exchanger Tube Rupture – Determining relief device location and size adequacy and maximum expected pressure.
  2. Distributed Cold Blow Down – Determining temperature distributions across piping and equipment, identifying potential metal embrittlement locations and quantifying flare loads.
  3. Water Injection Systems – Determining water hammer effects and prediction of cavitation during transient events such as pump start up and switchover.

Speaker

Tan Jun Xian is Head of Process at East 101 with over 4 years of experience conducting dynamic simulation analyses on various systems including compression trains, gas networks and heat exchangers. Prior to joining East 101, Jun was Technical Engineer at Toray Plastic. Jun graduated from the National University of Malaysia in 2010 with a B.Sc.
in Chemical Engineering and is an Associate Member of IChemE.

Mohd Fuad Anwari Che Ruslan is a Process Engineer at East 101, having joined the company in 2012 as a fresh graduate. Fuad has since acquired advanced skills and expertise in liquid surge, cold blowdown analysis and gas production forecasting. Fuad received a B.Sc. from University of Minnesota and is an Associate Member of IChemE.

Adri Jamil is a Process Engineer and the Research and Development Lead at East 101. His previous work includes water injection controls, performance monitoring and production separation trains. Prior to joining East 101, Adri was at Petronas Melaka Refinery working under operations. Adri received his M.Eng. from University College of London in 2012 and is an Associate Member of IChemE.
