Managing engineering change is critical for successful project delivery i.e. delivery on schedule and on budget. All too often process engineers make a design change without fully understanding the consequences that will have on the project particularly if equipment has been purchased and construction started. What is a simple change on a flowsheet or data sheet can have a far reaching effect on the project.

The workshop will be led by two senior managers from Bechtel and will familiarise the attendees with the project stages of conceptual design, front end design and detailed engineering, procurement and construction and how a design change impacts the project at each of those stages – larger impact as the project progresses. Design freeze will be discussed and the processes that will be applied should a change be necessary so that all project team members and the client are fully aware of the impact. Many projects have run into cost and schedule problems by not following a structured process and these are difficult to resolve later when there is no audit trail of the process that agreed the change.

The seminar will run as 4 sessions with coffee and lunch breaks. It will comprise teaching and interactive sessions, and will include examples/case studies. View and download the full programme.

This workshop would be ideal for Project managers, engineering managers, project engineers and lead engineers. All project personnel who are required to deliver project within budget.
