Topic

GNL del Plata is one of Uruguay’s most important infrastructure projects and will contribute positively to a significant change in the country’s energy mix by providing an additional clean fuel source with access to international markets. The project will also reduce the proportion of imported oil in the country’s energy supply.

In October of 2013, the Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) signed a so-called BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) contract for the duration of 20 years with the Montevideobased joint venture Gas Sayago for LNG storage and re-gasification services in Uruguay.

GNL del Plata FSRU will form part of the offshore GNL del Plata terminal with a capacity of 263,000 cubic metres – The largest FSRU currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea. Chris’s presentation provides an overview of the FSRU project’s challenge.
