This talk will focus on the different technologies that can be used to monitor well performance and how these can assist the industry to prosper within the current operating environment, where restrictions on CAPEX and OPEX are driving both operators and service companies to develop new ways to extend and optimise hydrocarbon production.

The material presented will be focused on upstream issues, including an overview of the drilling and completion process; how current technologies are used to monitor and extend the life of existing wells and how new developments are applying learnings and practices from other industries to meet the challenges of the sub-$60/bbl world in which we operate.

Presenter: Matthew Norgate has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Modern Language from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from Imperial College. He has had 19 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry working for Service Companies and consultants and is currently the Global Field Service Manager for GE Oil & Gas’ Sondex Wireline business.
