IChemE CEO attends SONG event in Kuala Lumpur

SONG event 20 Feb 2012

The IChemE Oil & Natural Gas Special Interest Group's Malaysian evening meetings returned on 20 February after an extended break over the calendar and Chinese New Years. IChemE CEO Dr David Brown attended the event, which featured a technical talk on flow assurance for deepwater subsea developments.

Mustafa Mahmood of Intecsea gave the presentation, which focused on design and operational aspects for long full well stream gas / condensate subsea pipelines, and stimulated an interesting range of questions and follow-up discussions.

David Brown preceded Mustafa's talk by sharing his thoughts on the future of chemical engineering and IChemE's role in shaping it.

SONG event 20 Feb 2012Sponsored by Talisman Energy and held at the Grand Millennium Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the event attracted in excess of 40 participants, and boosted SONG's membership in Malaysia to well over 100.

Topics are now confirmed for the next four SONG evening events in Kuala Lumpur; the next will be held on 19 March. Proposals for future topics are always welcome — research, design or operational, and covering any aspect of process engineering in the upstream and mid stream oil and gas industry. The aim is to share experience and stimulate conversation within the chemical engineers working in the oil and gas sector in Malaysia.
