30th Symposium of Malaysian Chemical Engineers

SOMChE is back this year with the theme Bridging the University-Industry Divide.

Universities have an important role to play in carrying out research to improve knowledge and understanding that can enhance the well-being of all. Fundamental research is vital in the advancement of scientific understanding. For Engineers we like to believe that our research can make a direct impact on society. Even at the more fundamental level we aim to make a difference. Beyond this, helping to come up with new ideas to help to solve the problems of industry is very rewarding. This could be new methods and applications to improve efficiency or to help solve problems related to health, safety, the environment and sustainability.

It is key to all this that researchers have a good understanding of the problems that are facing society in general and industry in particular. The aim of this conference, therefore, is to try and bring together participants from both Universities and Industry, so that ideas and issues can be shared and partnerships formed to enhance future research.

The areas of particular interest that have been identified for the Conference are:

  • Energy
  • Environmental Protection
  • Health and Safety
  • Palm Oil Processing
  • Food Processing
  • Bio-processing

Participants are invited to submit their presentations in either oral or poster format. The opportunity is also available for the publication of a full paper in an IChemE Journal, and to be included in a “Virtual Special Edition” of all published papers. Participants who only wish to present at the conference, without full publication, are equally welcomed, especially those from industry.

IChemE is a registered charity in England & Wales (214379), and a charity registered in Scotland (SC 039661).
