This webinar is based on a key strand of the technology involved in delivering bioenergy in the UK. The speaker, John Baldwin, will first outline technologies involved in cleaning biogas from anaerobic digestion plants based on organic matter and upgrading it to required standards for injection into the UK national grid. The webinar will also cover the current state and trends in the biomethane plants; challenges faced by the developers including regulatory and technical (gas cleaning, standards and grid injection interface), and present a case study.

Description: The webinar covers a high-level introduction to MPC, and its application to batch pharmaceutical processes. In an initial presentation, the challenges associated with MPC of Batch processes are discussed. The webinar is primarily a live case study demonstration using a quasi-real time simulation of a penicillin production process. The dynamics of the process and batch to batch variability are explored. Two approaches to batch control are implemented - controlling end points vs. controlling continuously measured/predicted variables. The process is also subject to feed concentration disturbances. The webinar attendees can compare and contrast the differences in the two approaches and evaluate how both reject the feed disturbance

This course covers the assessment of the multiple hazards associated with offshore and onshore facilities (including LNG facilities), It includes discussion on release and dispersion modelling, explosion modelling, cryogenic spills, prevention and mitigation, probabilistic risk assessments, legislation, and significant incidents..
Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in practical case studies and the course includes demonstrations on the application of consequence modelling software (both CFD and phenomenological) as input to safety studies.
