Four new categories as IChemE Awards 2015 opens for entries

The Institution of Chemical Engineers' annual awards – known as the IChemE Awards – opens for entries on Monday 2 March 2015 and will feature four new categories, including the Industry Leader Award and Best Business Start-Up Award.

Established in 1994, the IChemE Awards celebrate excellence and achievement in the chemical and process industries.

Previous IChemE Award winners include AstraZeneca, BASF, Dow Chemical Company, Du Pont, Foster Wheeler Energy, GSK, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London, Nestle, Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies, PETRONAS, Sellafield Ltd and Severn Trent Water.

Other new categories to be introduced in 2015 include the Research Project of the Year Award and the Oil and Gas Award.

Around thirty1 IChemE Award categories will feature at three events to be held in Singapore (22 October 2015), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (26 October 2015) and Birmingham, UK, which will host the IChemE Global Awards on 5 November 2015.

Andy Furlong, IChemE's director of policy and communication, said: "The IChemE Awards are always evolving and improving. This year we have introduced dedicated categories to recognise the importance of leadership and research in the chemical and process industries.

"We are also celebrating the achievements of entrepreneurs with our Best Business Start-Up Award. This new category reflects the important contribution new businesses make to job creation and commercialisation of some of the latest developments and innovations.

"For the first time, we are also pleased to announce that the winners of eligible2 categories at our IChemE Singapore Awards and IChemE Malaysia Awards will be automatically shortlisted for the IChemE Global Awards.

"Whether you are just starting out in your career, a senior figure in the industry, academic, or working in sectors such as renewable energy, food, water, health and many other fields of chemical and processing engineering, the IChemE Awards has something for everyone in the profession and is one of the best ways to demonstrate that chemical engineering really does matter."
