Lorien awarded Bronze for committing to young engineers

Lorien - Bronze CP
Lorien Engineering Solutions (a division of GP Strategies), is the latest company to be presented with Bronze Corporate Partner status by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). The company, based in Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire, UK, specialises in providing engineering solutions to the food and drinks industry.

The organisation has been recognised as an IChemE Bronze Corporate Partner after achieving three fundamental requirements, one of which was an accredited training scheme. Lorien’s graduate training scheme was launched in October 2015 and quickly achieved Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS) status just four months later.

Lorien will join a select group of organisations in the IChemE Bronze Corporate Partner category, which includes Atkins, Costain and Johnson Matthey. The new status recognises Lorien’s commitment its employees, providing them with opportunities to help their professional development.

They were presented with the accolade by IChemE’s director of qualifications, Neil Atkinson, and UK membership & market development manager, Neil Young.

Atkinson said: “Lorien has a real passion for chemical engineering, operating within the engineering project management sphere for sectors including food and beverage. We are delighted that Lorien has fulfilled the fundamental requirements for Bronze Corporate Partner status and IChemE looks forward to supporting them to inspire the next generation and to champion professional development.”

Dave Mallinson, Lorien’s scheme manager, said: “We are very pleased to be awarded Bronze Corporate Partner status and extremely proud to see our commitment to the training and development of our staff recognised by IChemE.

This achievement, in conjunction with the launch of our Accredited Training Scheme (ACTS) for developing engineers to Chartered Status, is a result of a great deal of enthusiasm and hard work from all involved, particularly in such a short timescale.

Moving forwards, we are keen to build our relationship with the IChemE and progress to Silver Corporate Partner status.”

Alexandra Walker, scheme co-ordinator added: "Accreditation and Corporate Partner Status from IChemE emphasises our commitment to both high quality graduates and more experienced candidates. In the long run it will play a key role in achieving ongoing company growth, all of which is vital in a sector faced with skills shortages."
