Laura Morris
Graduate Development Engineer

Laura MorrisI first became an Affiliate of IChemE during my Year in Industry gap year with AstraZeneca, and have been getting more involved ever since.

I will be able to use my Year in Industry as part of the minimum four year’s experience required to achieve Chartership. Following graduation, I am looking forward to joining IChemE Young Members, which will also contribute to me gaining Chartered Engineer status.

As a student my professional membership is an important part of my professional development. I have easy access to discounted journals and tce. IChemE also run many courses, which are heavily discounted for students. Not only are these informative and really good experience, but also a great opportunity to network and speak to professionals in the field.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to have been one of the IChemE Student Delegates to the Student Council: an initiative to forge stronger links between students, IChemE and industry as a whole. Being involved with IChemE as a student gives you opportunities to network, gain experience, and prepare yourself for a career in Chemical Engineering.
