Bruce is the Leadership Chair in Nuclear Process Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK and an Honorary Professor of Nuclear Engineering at University College London, UK. He is the Principle Investigator on the Engineering and Physics Sciences Research Council’s MUltiphase Fluid Flow in Nuclear Systems (MUFFIN) grant for the National Nuclear Users Facility and for the Accident Tolerant Skills in Recycling (ATLANTIC) programme, as well as a Co-Director of the Growing skills for Reliable Economic Energy from Nuclear (GREEN) Centre of Doctoral Training.

Prior to his appointment at Leeds, he spent more than 25 years in the nuclear and chemical industries, specialising in actinide separations and treatment of irradiated nuclear fuel and he is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the National Nuclear Laboratory. He currently manages a research budget of more than £5m.
