Overview

This webinar will include two separate presentations, please see below for an overview of each presentation and further information about the speakers.

Presentation 1

James Watt, Hydrogen/CCUS Consultant, WSP

The current surge in Hydrogen as an energy vector has elevated discussions about the Hydrogen Economy. This talk will consider some of the broader elements around Hydrogen covering where it sits in the energy scenarios to 2050, outline the sources of hydrogen and their importance and aspects of distribution and overlapping future infrastructure, particularly the future of the natural gas grid conversion

Presentation 2

Bill Cotton, Low Carbon Hydrogen Development Manager, Johnson Matthey

In this presentation Bill will provide a review of the backdrop to the UK's commitment to Net Zero, what this means for the key energy users in the UK and how this could potentially be achieved.

The presentation will provide an overview of Johnson Matthey's (JM) Low Carbon Hydrogen (LCH) technology for blue hydrogen production.  and its ICI historical roots.  It will also compare JM's LCH against other technology options for the production of blue hydrogen.  Finally the presentation will talk through how LCH fits into both the HyNet and Acorn projects.

JM’ s LCH technology was the winner of the IChemE Global Awards in the Energy category.
