Overview

As chemical engineers, whether Chartered or not, we should all make time for our professional development. Continual professional development (CPD) is undertaken by the member for their own benefit and to benefit their employer, client and customers. CPD activities can come in many forms including such as self-learning, professional activity, training (formal/educational) or work-based learning.

This event will consider what is involved in a CPD process and share good practices for the individual elements involved in selecting, planning, executing and documenting CPD activities. A brief overview of the IChemE’s CPD policy will be given as well as explaining what is involved if you are asked to provide a CPD submission as part of the annual CPD audit process.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • What is CPD, who needs to do it, and why?
  • Dimensions of CPD and the CPD cycle
  • Assessing your CPD needs
  • Planning CPD
  • Reflection and review
  • Record keeping
  • IChemE CPD policy and sampling.
