Webinar: Process Phase Separation Pitfalls & Screening Out the Worst

Webinar: Process Phase Separation Pitfalls & Screening Out the Worst
  • Date From 30th June 2021
  • Date To 30th June 2021
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 12:00 BST. Duration: 1 hour.

Overview

Two- and three-phase separators are key process equipment in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Oil & Gas. Poor performance of phase separators across the industry is associated with $10,000,000s production losses daily.

  • What can go wrong?
  • How can we remedy?
  • How can we avoid mal-performance?

Drawing on over two decades of trouble-shooting and debottlenecking experience world-wide, the presentation will feature summary case studies of real industry applications. Material will include illustrations and videos of CFD modelling and physical lab testing. An approach to good design practice will be demonstrated live with the MySep-Studio software application. This will feature new-build LNG applications and retro-fit remediation of related processes. Rigorous separator modelling inside process simulation is increasingly recognised as essential to the fidelity of an operational digital twin.  A demonstration of how this can already be realised in leading simulators will also feature.

Speaker

Tom Ralston, Business Development Manager, MySep Pte Ltd

Tom is business development manager for MySep Pte Ltd with responsibilities including marketing, sales and exchanger technology. His career in process engineering began in modelling physical properties of fluids at the UK National Engineering Laboratory (NEL). He contributed to heat transfer experimental and analytical research, consultancy activities and software development for HTFS and commercial customers. He progressed to manage HTFS activities on air-cooled and later shell and tube heat exchangers.

Tom supervised research, consultancy and software development as manager of NEL’s Heat Transfer Group. He managed the HTFS software business for AEA Technology and Hyprotech which became today’s AspenTech Exchanger Design & Rating (EDR) business. Tom led the development of EDR and through second and third generation integration with Aspen’s flagship HYSYS and Aspen Plus process simulation products. Joining MySep in 2015, he helped develop the software go-to-market and product strategy.
